libelf1 software package provides library to read and write ELF files, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libelf1
libelf1 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libelf1 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libelf1 *
You will get with libelf1 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
